Garbageband?

I get funny looks from people when I tell them I use Garageband to score movies. There's a misconception that Garageband is only useful for mixing around loop tracks for your iMovie projects. I'd like to say that this isn't so.

Hidden behind Garageband's cartoonish appearance is a set of powerful tools. For a person like me whose a marginally skilled musician but doesn't have much interest in audio engineering aspects of other tools like Logic, Garageband is both simple and complicated enough. Using Apple's Jam Packs and a USB MIDI keyboard, I have a huge variety of software instruments for use in my usually orchestra-heavy scores, without ever touching a single loop.

Like anything, it's not the tools you use but what you do with them. Garageband made possible my dream of scoring movies without expensive and cumbersome equipment. I've produced some pretty decent and creatively satisfying stuff with it and frankly, I'm tired of the scoffs.
